70th Years The Battle of Puputan Margarana

Puputan Margarana battle triggered on 2 and March 3, 1946, when there were approximately 2.000 Dutch troops landed on the island of Bali. They were followed by figures Bali pro-Dutch. When the Dutch landed on the island of Bali, the leader of Laskar Bali Lieutenant Colonel I Gusti Ngurah Rai, were overlooking Supreme Headquarters TKR in Yogyakarta. His departure to Yogyakarta aims to discuss coaching Regiment Small Sunda and ways to deal with the Dutch.

When he returned from Yogyakarta, I Gusti Ngurah Rai found the army in a state ravaged by attacks by the Dutch troops. I Gusti Ngurah Rai attempted to reassemble the troops that have been ravaged. Meanwhile, the Dutch continue to persuade Ngurah Rai to cooperate with the Dutch. But the invitation was declined, the rejection was seen from the contents of his reply to the Netherlands. Among them Ngurah Rai stated that: "Bali is not the place for talks and negotiations is the right of our leaders in the center".

In addition, Ngurah Rai, also stated that: "The island of Bali that preceded the arrival of the Dutch troops. Thus, if you want the island of Bali and peaceful, the Netherlands had to leave from the island of Bali". When Ngurah Rai managed to gather and reunite his troops, on  November 18, 1946  Ngurah Rai along its forces attacked the Dutch headquarters in the city of Tabanan. Dutch headquarters were battered to death. In that battle, the troops Ngurah Rai achieved a complete victory and the Dutch Police Detachment complete surrender their weapons. After the Ngurah Rai forces retreated to the north of the city arau Tabanan and centralize the struggle in Margarana  village.

As a result of the defeat of the Dutch side the utmost vigor, including combat aircraft to attack Margarana area on November 20, 1946. There was a fierce battle, in the battle Ngurah Rai called for war bellows (all-out war). In the war, I Gusti Ngurah Rai and troops killed in battle. The fighting is now better known as the war bellows Margarana is celebrated every November 20. On November 20, is celebrated as the hero Margarana by the people of Bali.
