Governor of Bali Wayan Koster and Bali Police Chief Monitor the Implementation of Health Protocols in Badung Regency Tourism Destinations

BADUNG, Balitopnews.com - In the midst of busy handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, and receiving the public and important guests from the Center, Governor of Bali Wayan Koster took the time to directly monitor the implementation of the Covid-19 Health Protocol in tourist destinations in Badung Regency, starting from the coast. Kuta, Petitenget Beach, and Batu Bolong Beach in Canggu, on Friday 1 January 2021 afternoon with the Bali Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Putu Jayan Danu Putra.

With an atmosphere of drizzling rain,  Koster who was accompanied by the Head of PP Bali Police, Dewa Nyoman Rai Dharmadi on Kuta Beach saw that there were not many tourists or people crowding around. However, some visitors who enjoyed Kuta Beach complained to Governor Koster regarding the accumulation of various types of garbage along the coast of Kuta Beach, such as plastic, wood, and styrofoam trash.

Due to this condition, the Governor of Bali, who is committed to the struggle to reduce single-use plastics, by issuing the Governor of Bali Regulation Number 97 of 2018 concerning Limitation of Single-Use Plastic Waste, hopes that the cleanliness of the Kuta Beach coast will receive serious attention and be cleaned immediately by the Badung Regency Government.

"The Badung local government must have a garbage handling system on Kuta Beach which is equipped with a Posko with adequate facilities and infrastructure, so that it can act quickly in a matter of hours to clean up the garbage that comes suddenly. Especially in an emergency situation like now, that is, in the rainy season and many tourists visit, the waste management system must function 24 hours a day, so there is no need to wait for tomorrow. For this reason, this waste handling must be done quickly, quickly, and quickly, "he said, saying because in every season rain always occurs when there is rubbish sent on Kuta Beach, so the incident that has been repeated every year should have created a special handling system involving the Traditional Village.

After a visit to Kuta Beach, then Governor Koster and the Regional Police Chief Inspector General Putu Jayan Danu Putra visited Petitenget Beach. There, Governor Koster was greeted by the Head of North Kuta District, I Putu Eka Parmana and did not see any visitors who violated the Health Protocol, including not seeing any piles of garbage along the coast located in Kerobokan Village.

Meanwhile, in the last location, namely Batu Bolong Beach, Canggu Village, the Governor from Sembiran Village, Buleleng was received directly by the Head of the Village of Canggu, I Nengah Lana and Bendesa Adat Canggu, Nyoman Sujapa. On this occasion, the Governor of Bali, who also serves as the Chair of the DPD PDIP Bali Province PDI  asked the Canggu Traditional Headquarters and Bendesa, including the Police, to always pay attention to community activities on the beach. "There are so many people who swim at Batu Bolong Beach, I ask the related officers to be ready to do lifeguard beach protection," he said while emphasizing that the implementation of the Health Protocol must be carried out by domestic tourists, as well as foreign tourists who live in Canggu Village.

Regarding the garbage near the entrance to Batu Bolong Beach, the Governor of Koster insisted that it be cleaned immediately, so that a positive image of the charm of this beach is always maintained in the eyes of tourists. "We have to take good care of the cleanliness of the coast, because this is a source of income for the local community and the government," he concluded. (Gix)
