The implementation of the booster today was initiated by the Bali national intelligence agency (BIN) at the Hall of Parliament Bali Province. 

 

Ketut Suarjaya said the boosters were carried out simultaneously in 34 provinces throughout Indonesia. The booster will target the general population who have received the second vaccination within 6 months of the second vaccination.

 

The main target is the elderly while the others are adapted to

the achievement of vaccination for the general public is at least 70 percent and vaccination for the elderly is at least 60 percent.

 

"Bali general vaccination has been above 102 percent and elderly vaccination is above 83 percent, so all Balinese people who are over 18 years old and have had the second vaccine 6 months and over are entitled to get vaccinated," he said.


 

According to him, there are 4 types of vaccines used, namely Pfizer, Moderna, Astrazaneca, and Sinovac. While the number of vaccines available to date is more than 280 thousand.

 

This booster vaccination is half the dose of the general vaccine. So a common dose can be used for 2 people.


 

Meanwhile, Governor of Bali Wayan Koster said that initially 3 million of the 4.3 million people (70 percent) of Bali's population were targeted to get the Covid-19 vaccine. Then it changed to 3.4 million or the target to 79 percent.

 

According to him, Bali requires 6.8 million doses of vaccine. And until now all fulfilled by the central government.

 

"Nothing is missing. It hasn't even been shipped out yet. So we have sufficient vaccine stock," he said.

 

Koster added that President Joko Widodo ordered governors throughout Indonesia to implement a third vaccine or booster.

 

"Today we have announced it and we will accelerate it within the next one month and two months so that we can really increase the target. So that Bali is really comfortable and safe for tourists to visit. I hope that the public because the vaccination is free, don't hesitate to immediately follow the booster," he asked.

 

Meanwhile, the Head of Bali Regional BIN, Brigadier General Pol. Hadi Purnomo said that BIN in the Bali region would target 484,000 people in one year or 37 thousand people in one month.

 

"We are doing this with the assistance of the Provincial and Regency Health Offices so that Bali can actually get all the vaccines and can surpass DKI," he said.

 

He explained that the main target for booster remains for the elderly, followed by the general public with the provision that it is 6 months away from the second vaccine.

 

"After this activity we will continue with door to door because the elderly and also people who cannot carry out vaccine activities collectively, we can carry out door to door activities," he concluded.(gix)
