Bali Hosts Jafung Archives Certification

BADUNG,Balitopnews.com - Bali is hosting the 28th batch of Archives Functional Position (Jafung) certification activities organized by the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI). The activity was held at Harris Hotel & Residences Sunset Road from 28 June to 1 July 2022. The certification involved 40 participants, consisting of 32 Bali Provincial Government archivists and 8 archivists from central agencies, officially opened at Buda Umanis Wuku Medangsia (Wednesday, 29 June 2022).

Head of the General and Protocol Bureau of the Bali Provincial Secretariat uDrs. I Wayan Budiasa, M.Si in his speech expressed his gratitude for the selection of Bali as the host of the certification activity. He was present to represent the Bali Provincial Government because the OPD he leads has been in charge of the archive sector since the implementation of bureaucratic reform in 2022. "One of the impacts of the bureaucratic arrangement that we are carrying out is that the handling of archives is under the General Bureau and Protocol," he said. Talking about archive management, he said there are four things that must be considered, namely human resources, facilities and infrastructure, supporting mechanisms and budget support. Starting from the four components, in the midst of a pandemic situation, archival management faces challenges in terms of funding support. This is due to the rationalization of the budget which requires the government to determine the priority scale. “Our archival facilities and infrastructure are not optimal. A number of provinces already have depots, while we don't," he added. Therefore, the Bali Provincial Government pays attention to another important issue, namely improving the quality of human resources in the archives sector. He is grateful that ANRI supports this effort by making Bali the host for archivist certification. Through this certification activity, he hopes that increasing the capacity of an archivist can be in line with strengthening his capabilities.

Meanwhile, Director of Human Resources for Archives and Certification of ANRI Dr.Andi Abubakar, SIP.M.Si said that this activity aims to ensure the quality of eligibility in archival services. Through certification activities, he hopes that archiving can be carried out according to standards. Moreover, through certification and competency testing, an archivist is expected to be able to prove performance accountability and contribute positively to the progress of the organization.
