DENPASAR, Balitopnews. com – Chairperson of the TP PKK  Bali Province Mrs Putri Koster was a guest speaker at the Bali Talking Women event with the theme 'Preventing Stunting is Important' at the Bali TV Studio, Denpasar, Tuesday (Anggara Umanis Krulut) July 19, 2022.

Starting her directive, Mrs. Putri Koster said that the stunting problem needed attention and joint efforts to overcome it. Not only the government alone, but all components of society work together to overcome stunting and carry out socialization and education to the public regarding what stunting is, its prevention efforts and what we can do to reduce stunting rates in Bali in particular and Indonesia in general.

She added that although the percentage of stunting cases in Bali is much lower than the national level, this does not mean that she is ignoring it, considering that this is related to the quality of growth and development of the nation's future generations. Prevention efforts must continue to be carried out so that the number of stunting sufferers can be reduced to zero cases.

For this reason, she hopes that the existing PKK cadres up to the dasa wisma level will continue to carry out various prevention efforts, both through socialization, education, including paying attention to the nutrition and health conditions of adolescents, pregnant women and toddlers.

"Good knowledge of nutrition and intake that builds growth begins when women enter adolescence, pre-marriage, pregnancy and childbirth. Nutritional intake is very important for the growth and development of the fetus to be born, in addition to forming the completeness of perfect organs, it will also affect the intelligence of his brain work after being born later, " Putri Koster explained .

This number one companion in Bali added that not only expectant mothers and pregnant women need attention, after the baby is born, they must also get more attention than before. Because in addition to requiring complete immunization, sufficient breast milk, complete food and nutrition intake, the baby's growth and development must also be considered every month. Because the development of the baby's weight and length is very important to know whether the baby is growing well with a standard weight and length or not, from here it will be known whether the baby's growth is stunting or not.

The head of the Bali Provincial Health Office, dr. I Nyoman Gede Anom, M.Kes explained that stunting is a condition of failure to grow and develop in toddlers caused by chronic nutrition in the first 1000 days of life (after birth). And this will be seen or known after the growth of toddlers at the age of 2 years, which is characterized by failure to grow in height (length) of the body that is less than standard, cognitive disorders or disorders of the brain and metabolic disorders occur.

Nationally, Bali recorded a stunting rate in 2021 of 10.9%. this shows that Bali has the lowest stunting rate in Indonesia, but the Bali Provincial Health Office in collaboration with the PKK Mobilization Team throughout Bali is targeting Bali 9.28% in 2022.

In addition to adequate nutritional intake through food, blood-boosting tablets are also required that must be taken by young women. This is intended so that the body's resistance can be possessed when later starting to conceive and give birth considering that the immune system is built starting from the age of adolescence.

In addition to consuming blood-boosting tablets, giving additional food (PMT) to pregnant women and toddlers is one of the efforts to prevent stunting for children. So that the number and cases of pregnant women with KEK (chronic energy deficiency) can be minimized. (Rls/Btnc)
