Don't make fun of Bali Arak Day, because it aims to revive Balinese cultural traditions
DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - The determination of January 29 in Bali as Bali Arak Day which was initiated by the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster through the Decree of the Governor of Bali Number 929/03-I/HK/2022 received a positive response from Academics, PHDI, and Yowana. Because the commemoration of Bali Arak Day has positive benefits, namely to revive Balinese cultural traditions passed down from our ancestors. For this reason, academics up to Yowana asked several elements not to twist the meaning of Bali Arak Day in a bad direction. As stated by the Udayana University Pharmacy Expert, Prof. Dr. Drs. I Made Agus Gelgel Wirasuta, Apt, M.Si on Tuesday (Anggara Kliwon, Medangsia) January 24 2023 that Bali Arak Day which is celebrated once a year on January 29 in Bali Province is the right idea from the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster. Arak Bali as a cultural heritage of Bali by having traditional craftsmanship. Balinese Arak continues to be involved in cultural activities, such as being used as a means of ceremony or being offered as a beat for Bhuta Kala (represented as the immeasurable and undeniable force of the universe and time and depicted as a large and frightening figure like a giant form, red). Balinese Arak drink is a drink inherited from ancestors that is produced through traditional craftsmanship by producing a delicious taste that comes from nature (coconut trees, palm trees, and enthal trees, red). To produce arak, this drink is ripened through two distillation methods. "So, this Bali Arak Day is a step to commemorate how Balinese ancestors built cultural traditions that are now Indonesia's Intangible Cultural Heritage," Prof. Gelgel said.

Then according to the Hindu religion, Bali Arak Day must be used as a momentum to educate, because in the teachings of Hinduism Balinese Arak is used as a ritual means, and it is true that there are also religious teachings that prohibit getting drunk, if the drinker consumes excessive volumes of alcoholic beverages. But vice versa, if Balinese Arak is consumed at reasonable levels it will be good and healthy. So, the purpose of having Bali Arak Day is actually to strengthen the economy of small communities that have a positive impact.
Meanwhile, Youth of MDA Karangasem Regency through Petajuh, I Made Arda Oka firmly stated his tone of approval of the good idea of the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster who issued a Decree on Bali Arak Day to be commemorated every year on January 29. Made Arda Oka, saig that the Governor of Bali is holding Bali Arak Day in accordance with the Decree of the Governor of Bali Number 929/03-I/HK/2022 concerning Bali Arak Day. /or Balinese Distillation as a milestone in changing status that elevates the existence, value and dignity of Balinese Arak. The second goal is to invite all Balinese people, local governments in Bali and businesses to make January 29 the day for the collective awareness of the Balinese people about the existence, values and dignity of Balinese Arak. Third Goal, to protect and maintain Balinese Arak in accordance with cultural values, as well as empower, market and utilize Balinese Arak as a people's economy in a sustainable manner. The Fourth Goal, Calls on all Communities, Regional Governments, and Business Actors to avoid using Balinese Arak for activities that are contrary to the essential values of Balinese Arak and applicable laws and regulations. "So that's the purpose of how our Governor of Bali is very brave and intelligent in raising the cultural heritage of Bali which has economic power to be positively boosted through holding Bali Arak Day. Because the goal is positive, don't play around with the Bali Arak Day in a wrong direction, it doesn't really make sense," emphasized I Made Arda Oka emphasized toYowana from Sanggem Traditional Village, Sidemen District, Karangasem, while stating that Balinese Arak is the result of local community production sourced from gifts from the Creator in the form of coconut trees, palm trees, and enthal trees which have become Balinese cultural heritage and need to be preserved to support the economy of the people who work as Balinese Arak farmers.
