Inspection the 2023 Lebaran Homecoming Integrated Post in Gilimanuk, Governor Koster Lowers Bali Transportation Agency to Support Joint Personnel to Serve Home coming

GILIMANUK, Balitopnews.com - Bali Governor Wayan Koster together with Bali Police Chief Inspector General Pol Putu Jayan Danu Putra, carried out an inspection at the 2023 Eid Integrated Post at Gilimanuk Port, Regency Jembrana on Wednesday ( April 19, 2023) afternoon.

On that occasion the Governor observed closely the density of homecoming traffic from Gilimanuk Port which will cross to Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, East Java.

In his statement, Governor Koster said, the situation on D-3 Eid al-Fitr in Gilimanuk, even though it was included in the very busy category, was observed to be safe and conducive. "This year's Eid al-Fitr has indeed seen an extraordinary increase, but the management and strategies implemented by related parties at Gilimanuk Port are quite good. There are 32 plus one ship prepared to transport passengers across," said the Governor when conveying, the Bali Provincial Government has deployed the Bali Provincial Transportation Agency to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to support the smooth flow of going home and back. Therefore Governor Koster also hopes that the system that has been implemented at this time can continue to run well during the homecoming and return flows in Gilimanuk in the next few days. "So that travelers who will celebrate Eid al-Fitr and gather with their families can be served well and have a safe trip," said the man from Sembiran, Buleleng Regency.

On the same occasion, the Bali Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Putu Jayan Danu Putra, revealed that efforts to unravel congestion by joint personnel included strategies to open and close traffic lanes, divert traffic flow, to prepare parking pockets as well as cluster and regulate the types of vehicles to be canalized. "The Chief of Police said earlier (online, ed) that there are several points of concern in the 2023 Lebaran homecoming period, one of which is at Gilimanuk Port to Ketapang, East Java. This is a common concern,"  the Bali Police Chief said.

The Bali Police Chief also stressed anticipating too long waiting times for crossings (port time) to prevent a buildup of potential passengers and congestion around Gilimanuk Port. "We have collaborated with related parties, such as alerting 32 ships for very congested conditions plus one large capacity ship to help reduce passenger density," he said. Inspector General Danu Putra also explained that small vehicles would be accommodated first at the Gilimanuk Harbor Cargo Terminal apart from being centralized for purchasing tickets. "So this is to reduce queues on the highway, at least there is a decent place before there is movement to the port," he explained. "The National Police Chief also emphasized safety issues and we have checked everything related to the condition of the ship and other safety supports such as life jackets to be checked at all times," he added.

Meanwhile, during the inspection, Governor Wayan Koster had the opportunity to greet a number of travelers who appeared to be queuing to board the ferry. One of them is Herman, a traveler from Jember who lives in Denpasar City. Herman, who is going home with his wife and a child using a motorbike, admits that even though the homecoming traffic is very busy and it takes hours to board the ferry, the system implemented at Gilimanuk Port is quite helpful.

Governor Koster also reminded to maintain health and maintain safety during the trip. "Be careful on the road, I hope you reach your destination safely," Koster  said  and the Bali Police Chief also symbolically handed over several packages in the form of food and vitamins to the personnel on guard so that they would be more enthusiastic and stay vital in carrying out their duties.
