MANGUPURA, Balitopnews.com - Task Force for the Acceleration of Covid Handling of 19 Bali Province through the Bali Provincial Industry and Trade Office together with the Bali Province Satpol PP and the Mengwi Sector Police conducted spot checks in three markets in the Mengwi area, Badung Regency, Saturday, June 20, 2020.

Head of the Bali Provincial Industry and Trade Office I Wayan Jatra said the traditional market as a new cluster of Covid-19 distribution was deemed necessary to be more stringent given the socialization of the application of health protocols for both market visitors and sellers

The selection of traditional markets is done because this place is a conventional place that prepares special blocks for sellers in a building and there are also several types of traders who make the market side area as a spilled market. This sudden inspection was carried out deliberately in the morning, bearing in mind that the activities of the residents preparing foodstuffs were morning and after that those who were spilling to the market would return to their respective areas.

Wayan Jatra added that this activity was carried out according to the instructions of the Governor of Bali as the Chair of the Bali Province Co-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling. This is an effort to minimize the transmission of Covid-19 in the midst of seller and buyer interaction.

"By carrying out this sudden inspection, further coordination and evaluation will be carried out, regarding the application of existing health protocols in these markets, whether or not it is complete, whether it is providing a place to wash hands, the use of masks by sellers and buyers, the distance between traders and also traders' readiness to carry hand sanitizers in their respective pockets, " Jatra added.

After conducting a sudden inspection at the Mengwi market, a team from the Bali Provincial Industry and Trade Office, Satpol PP and a number of members of the TNI-POLRI continued the inspection to the traditional markets of Blahkiuh and Mambal villages.

Jatra said that by coming early in the morning the team could see firsthand the peak of the traditional market crowd so they could conduct an evaluation.

"To be honest we are rather worried because the population of the number of visitors and traders is quite dense. In the context of the pandemic season of course we hope this is so that the movement of people in this market is not so tight," he said.

He said the three main conditions that had to be met were the use of masks, keeping a distance and washing hands. The discovery of the use of masks that are inappropriate or improper is the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

He said in the future besides educating the market it might be able to help provide masks to traders. All market visitors according to him are required to use a clean mask. Moreover, some traders are older citizens who are more vulnerable.

But the most attention was controlling the distance between traders and buyers. Therefore in the future it is necessary to regulate the amount or operating hours.

He also requested that hand washing facilities be used properly. Before entering the market or before returning from the market visitors must wash their hands. (Gix)
