Regional Secretary Dewa Indra Asks TPID to Anticipate Potential Increases in Inflation Rates Ahead of Successive Holidays

TABANAN, Balitopnews.com - Bali Province Regional Secretary Dewa Made Indra asked the Provincial and Regency/City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) to anticipate the possibility of rising inflation rates ahead of successive holidays starting from Galungan, Kuningan, Nyepi which will then be followed by the arrival of the month of Ramadan. He expressed this emphasis when opening the TPID Coordination Meeting and Preparation of the One Page Summary for the 2024 TPID Award at the HOMM Saranam Ballroom Baturiti Tabanan, Friday ( February  16, 2024)

Regional Secretary Dewa Indra further revealed that a series of holidays are usually accompanied by increasing community needs. "At the end of February there is Galungan, then at the beginning of March there is Kuningan which is combined with Nyepi. After that, the month of Ramadan comes," he explained.

He added that based on past experience, the series of holidays tends to be accompanied by increasing needs. "Therefore, we must be able to ensure the availability of supplies so that inflation does not occur. This is everyone's responsibility," he said.

Dewa Indra believes that TPID officials are able to respond to this by taking the necessary anticipatory steps. So far, Dewa Indra added, Bali has faced situations that have triggered inflation several times. "And so far we have been able to control inflation figures within a safe range so that uncontrolled price spikes can be prevented," he added.

Regarding anticipation of consecutive holidays, this Singaraja-born bureaucrat invited TPID officials to carry out intensive monitoring of the availability of necessities such as meat and other food ingredients. Apart from that, he is also paying attention to the rising price of rice. "To reduce the rate of increase in rice prices on the market, we continue to coordinate with Bulog," he added. Still in his direction, Regional Secretary Dewa Indra again reminded TPID to adhere to the 4K principles, namely Affordable Prices, Availability of Supply, Smooth Distribution and Effective Communication. More than that, he encouraged strengthening coordination and cooperation across districts/cities. "We have developed this pattern and I hope it will continue to be optimized. All districts will maintain production stability according to their respective potentials," he hoped.

Meanwhile, the Head of BI Representative for Bali Province, R. Erwin Soeriadimadja, in his presentation appreciated the success of TPID staff throughout Bali in controlling the inflation rate, which was last recorded at 2.6 percent. According to him, this achievement is the result of the hard work of provincial and district/city TPID officials who have taken the right steps in controlling inflation. In another part, he also touched on the uniqueness of Bali as a tourism destination. "Supply for Bali is not only to meet the needs of its people, but also for tourists who visit. Therefore, Bali is not only a producing area but also depends on other regions," he explained.

The TPID Coordination Meeting presented a number of speakers, namely Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bustanul Arifin, M. Sc and Young Expert Policy Analyst of the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Sri Purwanti. Prof. Bustanul in his presentation provided steps to maintain the availability of supplies of basic necessities. (Rls/Btnc)
