The Young Generation is Expected to Actively Preserve the Balinese Language Amid the Influence of Global Culture

DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - Bali Province Regional Secretary Dewa Made Indra officially closed the VI Balinese Language Month Event which had been held for one month, Saturday ( March 2, 2024) at the Ksirarnawa Building, Art Center, Denpasar.

In his speech, Regional Secretary Dewa Indra who represented The Acting Governor of Bali expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the 6th  Balinese Language Month, which is an effort by the Government to preserve the Balinese language.

 

For this reason, Dewa Indra hopes that the commemoration of Balinese Language Month will not only be symbolic euphoria but also an effort by the younger generation to actively preserve the Balinese language, especially amidst the cultural onslaught of globalization. "And to the winners of the competition and to those who received awards, I congratulate them. I hope that in the future those who have not yet won will improve their achievements so that young generations emerge who are fluent and love the Balinese language," he concluded.

 

Meanwhile, Head of the Bali Provincial Culture Service, I Gede Arya Sugiartha, said that the VI Balinese Language Month had been held well and smoothly. There were various activities carried out during Balinese Language Month, such as Utsawa Nyurat Lontar and Typing Balinese Script using a keyboard which was participated in by 600 high school/vocational school students and university students, in addition to that, 852 district/city ambassador participants took part in Wimbakara or competitions. Furthermore, as many as 606 participants took part in Widyatula and various other activities.

Furthermore, Gede Arya Sugiartha said that during the 6th Balinese Language Month, an Intangible Cultural Heritage Certificate was also handed over to the Bali Provincial Culture Service regarding Ngaben, Melukat and the Holy Day of Nyepi, to the Tabanan Regency Culture Service regarding Jukut Gonda and Megandu Tabanan. Karangasem Regency Culture and Tourism Office regarding the Rejang Gede Dance. Bangli Regency Tourism and Culture Office regarding Loloh Cemcem and Pengotan Bangli Mass wedding. Buleleng Regency Culture Service regarding Sampi Gerumbungan and Parading Sokok. Klungkung Regency Culture Service regarding Nusa Penida Rangrang Weaving, Genta Crafts, Klungkung Gamelan Crafts and Uyah Kusamba. Jembrana Regency Tourism and Culture Office regarding Jembrana Cagcag Weaving, Bumbung Kepyak and Mebarung Kendang. Denpasar City Culture Service regarding the I Gusti Made Deblog painting and the Denpasar Banjar Lebah Butterfly Line Dance.

On this occasion, Regional Secretary Dewa Indra also handed over certificates of appreciation to the winners of the Competition/Wimbakara, and closed with the launch of the theme of the VII Balinese Language Month 2024. (Rls/Btnc
