The Bali Provincial Government Urges The Public to Be Alert and Careful

DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - The Bali Provincial Government has asked the Balinese people to be aware of the impact of extreme weather and to be careful in carrying out activities amidst recent weather conditions in various regions in Bali. This was conveyed by the Chief Executive of the Bali Province Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Made Rentin in his official release in Denpasar, Friday (March 15, 2024).

"The public is advised to remain alert to the impacts of extreme weather such as waterlogging, floods, landslides and fallen trees," he said. He added that the general public, fishermen and marine tourism activities are alert to the potential for strong winds and high sea waves which can reach 2 meters in the waters around Bali. "Always pay attention to valid information from authorized agencies," he asked.

According to Rentin, based on information from the Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region III, on March 14-16 2024, there is the potential for moderate to heavy intensity rain in all districts/cities throughout Bali. Furthermore, on March 17 - 20 2024, there is still the potential for light to moderate rain in all districts/cities throughout Bali. "The potential for high rainfall can cause hydrometeorological disasters such as potential landslides, flash floods, flooding and inundation in low-lying areas in residential areas and agricultural/plantation land and has the potential to cause damage to agricultural/plantation crops," he said.

BBMKG also submitted an analysis of Tropical Cyclone Seeds 91S (speed range 65 km/hour), 94S (speed range 37 km/hour) and 93P (speed range 37 km/hour) in the Indian Ocean resulting in indirect impacts such as medium height sea waves ( 1.25 - 2.5 m) in waters around Bali such as the southern Bali Strait, Badung Strait, Lombok Strait and Bali Sea. Rentin asked the public to save important numbers in case of a disaster emergency. These include the BPBD number for Bali Province (0361-251177 or 085792240799), BPBD Kab. Badung (08113894000), BPBD Kab. Gianyar (0361-8598447/ 4795632 or 08113884353), BPBD Kab. Bangli (0366-91448), BPBD Kab. Karangasem (0363-22173 or 08123711174), BPBD Kab.
