The Governor of Bali,  Wayan Koster check a number of points on the construction of a 'shortcut' road linking Mengwitani, Badung Regency with Singaraja City, Northern Bali on Friday (June 7, 2019)

Of the 12 development points planned for the 'shortening distance' road, four points were checked by Governor Koster with the group.

Accompanying the entourage of the Governor Bali was the Bali Regional Secretary Dewa Made Indra, Head of BBPJN VIII I Ketut Dharmawahana, Head of Bali Provincial Public Works Agency I Wayan Astawa Riadi and Head of Bali Province Regional Public Relations and Protocol AA Ngurah Oka Sutha Diana.

The first check was carried out by the group at point 3, whose cultivation had just begun. Then followed by moving point 4, the work will begin soon, and finally the development progress has been made at points 5 and 6. At these two points, the development process has reached around 51 percent.

To the project workers, Governor Koster advised that they would be able to maintain the quality of development. Besides that, it is also reminded to always be able to make a polite approach to the affected community.

"I ask the hall and the contractor to remain committed to carrying out the task by maintaining the quality of work. And what is very important, if you are in touch with the community, is related to physical work, do not cause public offense, " Koster said.

Koster, who is also the Chairman of the DPD  PDI Perjuangan Bali, requested that the approach to the community from the start must be done in a polite and good manner, so that they could understand that what the government was doing was for the good of the community itself.

"What the government does is useful not only for the people in Buleleng and Tabanan, but also (roads, red) will be used by the whole community, it will even become a tourist route that can make tourists more comfortable visiting Bali by passing the lane Singaraja-Denpasar, " Governor Koster stressed.

The Governor of Bali  said, even though the road construction funds came from the state budget, the provincial government of Bali had prepared Rp230 billion for land acquisition and making replacement homes for evictions affected.

"A new house is made that is better than the original house, complete with objections built," he explained. According to Koster, this is a civilized way of solving problems in the community, so that people can accept evictions for the benefit of road construction.

"As at point 3, Mr Sudiarta was very happy that he could walk in front of his very large house and get a new house. With the land acquired, he has a total of four billion rupiah, " Koster added.

According to him, this new approach taken by the Bali Provincial Government because seeing how to handle turmoil in the community in infrastructure development is often uncivilized. "The community supports it, it's good. Because of that, the basic needs are like a house that must be moved, we make a new house. So far, no, people are evicted like animals, it's not good, "he said.

In addition to cutting travel time, the new Mengwitani-Singaraja road will also make the number of bends less, so the trip will be more comfortable. This will have a positive impact on tourism and the economy for Bali.

In the check it was revealed, in addition to the 5-6 points which are expected to be completed by the end of this year, as well as the 3-4 points that will begin soon. Points 7-8 are planned for 2020, and points 1-2 and 9-10 are originally planned for 2021, possibly being advanced to 2020.

"When I spoke with the Minister on May 18, he responded that the process would be accelerated to 2020," Governor Bali I Wayan  Koster said. ( Balitopnews.com / Amo Bali )
