Governor Koster: Young Generation Have to Understand the History of the Nation

The Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, emphasized that the young generation, especially in Bali, must understand the history of the nation. "Don't leave history. The latest generation must know who the nation's hero is, who is The Proclamator of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia," he said excitedly.

Governor Koster said this at the opening of the 'Bung Karno Quiz Contest and Speech Contest' at the Bali Provincial Education Office in Denpasar, Thursday morning (  June 13, 2019 )

In the event which was held related to the commemoration of the Bung Karno Month, Governor Koster outlined the great role of Bung Karno in the days leading to independence. "History records his role in making this nation independent. We must inherit his spirit, ideas and ideas for Greater Indonesia," he stressed.

Along with the services in fighting for Indonesian independence and other matters relating to the birth of this country, according to Koster, Bung Karno deserved to be respected as the Father of Nations, as a National Hero.

The governor who is also the Chairman of the DPD  PDI-P Province of Bali explained that at this time it was the right time to apply the noble values ​​of Bung Karno's teachings to the Indonesian people, especially in Bali Province. "Bali is a model for other regions in implementing Bung Karno's teachings as a whole, according to the existing local wisdom," Koster said.

The governor said, "The vision of 'Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali' was an idea and concept that I explored from the thought of Bung Karno, where the concept of cultural personality is very compatible with Bali."

In the following years, Koster ensured that the Bung Karno event would continue and would be even more festive. "We will increase the contest participants again. Now the level of high school, next year starts from elementary school to college. We cultivate national values ​​from the initial level to the advanced level of our generation," he said in front of participants who were accompanied by teachers and heads their respective schools.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bali Provincial Education Agency Ketut Ngurah Boy Jayawibawa on the same occasion said that the spirit and ideas of Bung Karno, especially the Pancasila, had to be emulated by the next generation. "We reflect on and reflect on the spirit of Bung Karno in accordance with the vision of 'Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali' and the local wisdom of Bali,"  Jayawibawa said.

The speech competition and quiz were participated by representatives of the regencies / cities of SMA / SMK / SLB throughout Bali, where 23 students were recorded as taking part in the speech competition and 45 participants in the quiz competition with the theme of Bung Karno.
