Australia Praises Governor's Bali Step to Boost Bali from Plastic Waste

The Governor Bali Wayan Koster's efforts and actions in cleaning The Island's of God from plastic waste, received praise and appreciation from the Australian.
This was revealed when Bali Governor Wayan Koster received an audience for the Australian Consul General at Bali, Anthea Griffin, in the Governor's living room, Governors Bali Office in Denpasar, Tuesday morning (June 18, 2019). This was the first meeting Griffin who was appointed to replace Helena Studdert last March.
In addition to introductions, this meeting also discussed several issues in the fields of tourism, culture, trade, environment and tourism
The most prominent conversations, appearing around environmental issues. The Australian Consul General was impressed with the efforts of Governor Wayan Koster who has taken part in overcoming the problem of garbage in Bali, especially plastic waste.
"I am very happy when shopping in a supermarket, where beans and chili are wrapped in banana leaves," Griffin said.
She said the Australian government was interested in being able to get involved in efforts to overcome the garbage problem in Bali. According to her, Australia has been involved in educational programs in several hotels and villages in Bali.
Responding to that, Bali Governor Wayan Koster said, after banning the use of disposable plastics, it was preparing a waste management regulation so that waste in Bali could be completed from the source
"Organic efforts are made to be finished in the village, while inorganic ones are managed on the one hand," Koster said . He welcomed if there was a program that could synergize with the Bali Provincial Government to create a clean Balinese nature in accordance with the vision of 'Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali'.
Governor Koster said that the relationship between Bali and Australia had been established for a long time, so he hoped that this relationship could even be improved.
Besides environmental issues, Griffin also appreciated the implementation of the XLI Bali Arts Festival parade which he witnessed on Saturday (6/22). Griffin hopes that next year Australia can participate in the Bali Arts Festival.
Still in the field of culture and tourism, Griffin also hopes that tourists from Australia can be more in touch with Balinese customs and culture, in addition to their hobbies in surfing and vacationing in hotels as they should.
In the trade field, Griffin hopes that bilateral agreements in the economic field between Indonesia and Australia (IA-CEPA) can be immediately ratified, so that it will have an impact on trade cooperation between Bali and Australia.
