Synergizing with PIDHI Bali and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UNUD, Women's Organization Collaboration Agency Promotes Danger and Ways to Prevent Rabies Virus Transmission

BADUNG,Balitopnews.com  - In order to align the programs of the Bali provincial government with the Bali Province Women's Organization Cooperation Agency (BKOW) and Regency GOW, Chair of the Bali Province BKOW Ny. Tjok. Putri Hariyani Ardhana Sukawati socialized the dangers of rabies for everyone's safety and health, considering that health is a top priority that must be maintained to create quality health. As we know that rabies is a virus transmitted through bites which is always fatal to warm-blooded animals and can attack humans (zoonosis) which can be caused by animals such as cows, dogs, cats, bats, monkeys and monkeys). So it needs joint concern to prevent the spread of this rabies virus. This was conveyed by the Chairperson of the Bali Province Women's Organization Cooperation Agency (BKOW), Mrs Tjok Putri Hariyani Ardhana Sukawati during socialization on the dangers of rabies and its prevention, at the Sibangkaja Village Office, Badung, Thursday (March 3, 2003 ).

The socialization in collaboration with the Bali Province Indonesian Veterinary Wives Association (PIDHI) is a women's organization that accommodates veterinary wives, wives of veterinary graduates, female veterinarians, and female veterinary graduates attended by PKK cadres from Sibangkaja Village. On this occasion, presenting guest speaker I Nyoman Suartha, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University who presented material on "rabies, its prevention and control". He said that in order to protect our pets (especially dogs and cats) so that they do not harm local residents, it is important for all of us to increase awareness of vaccination for our dogs and cats to officers from the animal husbandry service. Because vaccination will protect animals from rabies and break the chain of transmission of the rabies virus. In addition, we must also be wary of rabid dogs whose saliva contains rabies, because in general these dogs will be afraid of sunlight and prefer to roam around at night or at dawn. In fact, the thing that we need to be most aware of is when we go to the market at dawn, if a dog approaches, we need to know that it is a mad dog targeting our feet to be bitten and transmitted rabies. "If any of us have been bitten by a dog, then wash them immediately with soap, because the rabies virus is unstable, and easily damaged by coir and 70% alcohol and evaporates quickly at 60 degrees Celsius. In addition, it is important for us to continue seeking medical treatment. because the rabies virus will incubate for at least 7 days and can reach months or even years," he said

Dogs that transmit rabies have three (3) phases, viz 1. The furious (fierce) phase of rabies has the following characteristics: he is restless, nervous, aggressive, loses fear of humans, bites anything, hypersalivation and overreacts. 2. The paralysis phase is the phase where they will choose to hide from the crowd, afraid of light and only go out to find food when the sun has set. 3. The dumb (stupid) phase is when the mad dog has a seizure and then dies. It was also explained that there were several symptoms of people who had rabies, including tingling in the part of the body that was bitten, profuse salivation, fear of water, fear of light, easily disturbed by sound, 'strange' and unfocused eyeball movements, seizures. -seizures, experienced other nervous symptoms and then died. The Head of Sibangkaja Village, Ni Nyoman Rai Sudani said that his village had been handling rabies since 2016. In addition to outreach, her party also handles rabies in the field by involving officers from the district animal husbandry service. He did this considering that the residents of Sibangkaja Village really care about the safety and comfort of all parties. (Rls/Btnc)
