Maintaining Food Availability, Regional Secretary Dewa Indra Asks Regencies/Cities to Have Perumda Pangan

BADUNG, Balitopnews.com - Regional Secretary Bali Province Dewa Made Indra asked districts that do not yet have Perumda Pangan to immediately form one. This is intended to collaborate on food security/availability between districts/cities. "I ask that all regencies/cities in Bali Province have Perumda Pangan. If in one regencies/cities there is a shortage of the basic commodity of rice, for example, they can exchange or buy from other regencies where the availability of rice is still safe, so that there will be no shortage of food stocks, and it will not cause "high prices. This is important to keep inflation stable," Dewa Indra said in an interview shortly after giving a presentation, a series of TPID Bali Nusra Regional Coordination Meetings, at the Laguna Nusa Dua Hotel, Bali,

Friday, Sukra Umanis, Langkir ( March 15, 2024)

Apart from that, the existence of Perumda Pangan aims to absorb agricultural products from local communities, so that apart from safe food stocks, the community's economy will also turn around in a healthy manner. In the Bali Nusra Region Coordination Meeting which raised the theme "Strengthening Regional Food Institutions (BUMD/Koperasi) to Control Inflation and Encourage Inter-Regional Cooperation (KAD) in the Bali Nusra Region. Together we are committed to maintaining food price stability, strengthening economic food institutions locally, and encouraging cross-regional cooperation to improve community welfare, considering how important food price stability is in maintaining community welfare amidst economic dynamics and global challenges.

Dewa Indra explained that in February 2024, inflation in Bali was recorded at 2.98% (yoy) and on a monthly basis Bali Province experienced inflation of 0.61% (mtm). For yoy inflation, this figure is still within the inflation target range, namely 2.5 ± 1%. "Controlled inflation cannot be separated from good synergy between stakeholders through the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) which is supported by the National Movement for Controlling Food Inflation (GNPIP) by implementing the 4K strategy framework, namely, price affordability, supply availability, smooth distribution and effective communication" , he added again. This Regional Coordination Meeting is the right forum to share experiences, develop joint strategies, and strengthen cooperation between regions in terms of controlling inflation and developing food sector institutions. Therefore, it is very important that efforts to control inflation can be carried out in a "Ngrombo" manner together between stakeholders, not only within the scope of districts/cities throughout Bali but also between regions, especially Bali Nusra.

One strategic effort that can be made is optimizing inter-regional cooperation (KAD) to reduce disparities in supply and prices between regions. TPID needs to identify surplus and deficit areas and become a facilitator to encourage inter-regional cooperation to maintain smooth distribution. He stated again that collaboration is the key to success in maintaining food price stability. Whether it is through the exchange of information, experience and resources, it can create strong synergy in facing common challenges. "I hope that the implementation of KAD will not only be through a government to government (G2G) scheme but will develop into business to business (B2B) where Perumda Pangan and Cooperatives play an important role as strategic partners in distributing food commodities to surplus areas and obtaining food commodities in deficit areas ," he explained. All Perumda Pangan throughout Bali have formed Paiketan Perumda Pangan which aims to collaborate to encourage the economy and control food prices in Bali Province. This is one of Perumda Pangan's institutional strengthening programs which is expected to be the spearhead in making concrete efforts to control inflation in Bali Province. The Chief Expert Inspector General of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Rolekson Simatupang, who was also present in person on this occasion, said that there were six (6) concrete efforts by the Regional Government in handling Regional Inflation, including carrying out cheap market operations, carrying out inspections of markets and distributors so that they do not hoard or hold back goods, cooperation with commodity producing regions for smooth supply, planting movements, realizing Unexpected Expenditures (BTT) and providing transportation support from the APBD.
