BADUNG, Balitopnews.com – Bali Province Regional Secretary Dewa Made Indra appreciates the steps taken by the Bali Provincial Language Center, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, in efforts to protect regional languages, especially Balinese, because this is in line with the Bali Provincial Government's program in efforts to protect , protecting and revitalizing Balinese Language and Literature.
He expressed this when opening the Inter-Agency Coordination Meeting for the Revitalization of Regional Languages in Bali Province, at the Aventus Hotel, Kuta, Badung, on Monday ( March 18, 2024)
The commitment to protect Balinese language and literature has been stated in Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2018 concerning Balinese Language, Script and Literature and Bali Governor Regulation Number 80 of 2018 concerning the Protection and Use of Balinese Language, Script and Literature and the Implementation of Balinese Language Month. "This regulation also makes the Balinese language the identity and identity of the Balinese people. "And if there are institutions that also want to strengthen it, we should appreciate it," he explained.
According to him, the commitment to protecting the Balinese language has been carried out from upstream to downstream. Downstream, this has been carried out through various programs by the Bali Provincial Government, such as organizing the Bali Language Month. "In this month-long event, there are many competitions and awards for people who are active in preserving the Balinese language," he added, explaining that from upstream the Language Center is trying to protect the Balinese language through this coordination meeting. On this occasion, he also hoped that the existence of the Bali Provincial Language Center, as an extension of the Central Government in the regions, would take part in efforts to preserve the Balinese language. Through this coordination meeting, it is hoped that a synergistic program of activities will emerge between the Language Center and the Bali Provincial Government. "The program that is created must be able to become a trigger and be able to encourage the spread of steps to preserve the Balinese language down to the smallest scope in people's lives," he explained. That afternoon, he also touched on budgeting issues in efforts to preserve the Balinese language. He acknowledged that the program was the responsibility of the Regional Government, so he ensured that he would ensure that the Provincial Government and Regency/City Government could commit to implementing it. Previously, the Head of the Bali Language Center, Valentina Lovina Tanate, explained that the Revitalization of Regional Languages was one of the efforts to protect Regional Languages and Literature in Indonesia which was mandated in Article 32 Paragraph 2 of the 1945 Constitution, which states that the state respects and maintains regional languages as national treasures, as well as the Law. number 24 of 2009 and Government Regulation Number 57 of 2014. Several stages of implementing Regional Language Revitalization include coordination meetings with regional governments through related agencies, group discussions in the context of preparing learning modules, technical guidance from Main Teachers for elementary and middle school teachers, monitoring and evaluation, the district/district level Mother Tongue Shooting Festival (FTBI). cities followed at the provincial level, mirror writing camps to FTBI at the national level. Meanwhile, Head of the Center for Development and Protection of Language and Literature, Drs. Imam Budi Utomo, M.Hum, emphasized previously that efforts to preserve regional languages are not just a program, but a moral responsibility that must be carried out continuously. He also realized that the Regional Government certainly already had a regional language preservation program, but he emphasized that what the Ministry of Education and Culture was doing was a little different. "We go through quite a long process, such as coordination meetings, discussions, training for master teachers so that these teachers can pass on their knowledge to other teachers and ultimately to the students," he explained. He also hopes that in the future the technical budgeting can be carried out by regional governments, so that in this coordination meeting he invited the Head of Provincial Bappeda and the Head of Regency/City Bappeda throughout Bali as well as the Head of the Culture Service throughout Bali.
